The White Sox outrighted Maton to Triple-A Charlotte on Monday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Maton has been outrighted previously, so he could refuse the assignment by the White Sox and elect free agency. However, it's not clear at this point whether or not he intends to remain in the organization. The utility infielder is a career .202/.302/.354 hitter over parts of five major-league seasons.
