Montgomery was forced to exit Wednesday's contest versus the Guardians with a left wrist contusion following a hit-by-pitch. X-rays were negative, and the left-handed-hitting Montgomery might not have started Thursday against Detroit southpaw Framber Valdez, anyway. Luisangel Acuna will play shortstop for the White Sox in Thursday's series opener.
