Every Monday we'll take a look at the Fantasy Baseball gainers and decliners in our Fantasy Stockwatch.

This week's potential 'Buy Guys'

OF Rocco Baldelli, TB
Often a favorite here and often spending more time on a rehab assignment and the DL than the field, Baldelli finally returned Sunday with the Rays. He still cannot be trusted to be an everyday player, but just the fact he is off the DL is enough to consider stashing him for potential stretch run dividends. The Rays will start him on and off until he proves productive and healthy enough for a larger role. Come September, he could be a solid start in all Rotisserie leagues again.
SP Phil Hughes, NYY
OK, so last week's Yankees starting pitcher prospect from this space, Ian Kennedy, failed miserably and got himself sent right back to the minors. But, we are even more convinced Hughes is a guy to stash in all leagues with reserves and DL spots right now. Kennedy is no Hughes, and the Yankees could start him as early as Sunday if he comes out of his Tuesday rehab start in good health and with a pitch count approaching 90. We think he is more likely to return in Fantasy Week 21 (Aug. 18-24) as a two-start pitcher at this point, so stash him now. We just cannot stop clinging to the notion the Yankees will get hot and make a big winner out of talents like Hughes and his Fantasy owners.
SP John Maine, NYM
Another notion we just can't seem to let go: Maine has potentially big-time stuff, when healthy. He returns Wednesday at Washington, which stands to be a nice matchup for a pitcher getting back into the mix of a pennant race. If he comes out of that start well he will be a must-start, two-start pitcher in Fantasy Week 21 (Aug. 18-24). His problem going into the injury was command more than arm strength, so watch his pitch count and walk total before you consider trusting him in mixed leagues.
1B Mike Jacobs, FLA
Jacobs was a hot name at the trade deadline as was sitting against left-handed pitchers and not a great defender, but the streaky hitter torched the Mets over the weekend and looks like a solid option in all mixed leagues again. He will certainly have a cold streak in him before the end of the season, but you have to take note when a player this streaky gets hot during Fantasy crunch time.
SP Brad Penny, LAD
His matchup vs. the Phillies and resurgent Joe Blanton is not a real favorable one this week, but anytime a potential Fantasy ace coming off the DL is available (in over 50 percent of CBSSports.com's leagues before last week's return) you have to take the flier. Penny will be building up his pitch count for a Dodgers team still in a pennant race and enjoying the fruits of Manny Ramirez's labor now. He wasn't throwing hard in his first start and could get hit in his second, but you should get some value out of him thereafter.

This week's potential 'Goodbye Guys'

SP Clay Buchholz, BOS
What a difference a year makes. Less than 12 months ago, Buchholz was pitching a no-hitter and looking like a future ace. Now, he looks completely unreliable for the faltering Red Sox. Worse than his slump, Bartolo Colon (back) is working his way through a rehab assignment and should be able to take over the No. 5 starter's spot about the same time Tim Wakefield (shoulder) makes his own return from the DL. That puts Buchholz in the bullpen down the stretch, which is probably just as well for his frustrated Fantasy owners. He hurts less there.
RP Aaron Heilman, NYM
Billy Wagner (forearm) is expected to return when first eligible Aug. 18 at the start of Fantasy Week 21 (Aug. 18-24), so Heilman was only going to get one last week as a closer anyway. But Monday's blown save puts the nail in his Fantasy coffin. You likely shouldn't have trusted the struggling reliever anyway, especially amid the Mets' shaky bullpen-by-committee. Heilman is not even worth using in leagues that use true middle relievers. He is Fantasy trash.
OF Marcus Thames, DET
Thames is a notoriously streaky slugger already mired in a deep slump, but now he has a shoulder issue, too. A bad shoulder is something you can play through, but with it, you will be nowhere near your best -- especially with the regard to power numbers. Thames is on your Fantasy roster to pop some homers, so look elsewhere in any Fantasy format at this point. His slump coupled with the injury makes him a tough start even in deeper AL-only leagues right now.
OF Kosuke Fukudome, CHC
Kosuke has already been disappointing enough, and useless in mixed leagues of late, but now the Cubs are threatening to put him on the bench more down the stretch. Fukudome makes too much money to be a full-time reserve, but all bets are off in a pennant race. You really don't want the struggling import in your lineup until he finds his stroke again anyway. Mark DeRosa can play the outfield with Mike Fontenot getting the starts at second base.
OF Jeff Francoeur, ATL
Free-swingers tend to be streaky hitters, but the ongoing problem with the 24-year-old Francoeur is he never, ever gets hot. We could not have envisioned extended struggles like this for a talent this good. Honestly, Frenchy can be a good player. You cannot see it now and we cannot assure you will before the end of the season. Put him on the Andruw Jones rocket to the waiver wire now and let some other sucker wait for this clam to open its mouth.

Some more 'Goodbye Guys' we couldn't fit in: OF Carlos Lee, HOU; SP Chris Young, SD; 2B Orlando Hudson, ARI; SP Mike Hampton, ATL; RP Tyler Yates, PIT; OF David DeJesus, KC; SP Ian Kennedy, NYY; OF Adam Jones, BAL; 3B Scott Rolen, TOR; 3B Josh Fields, CHW; OF Michael Cuddyer, MIN; SP Homer Bailey, CIN.

Stock advisor

Chuck T.: How much do you expect Rocco Baldelli to play, and how well do you think he will play?

Emack: Right now the question is how much will he play. We think it will be 50 percent of the time initially, but if he can become a full-timer by September, you might have a nice sleeper on your hands in deeper Rotisserie leagues. There is going to be a lot of rust here, but there is something for nothing on your waiver wire right now.
