The Tigers designated Rogers for assignment Tuesday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Rogers debuted with the Tigers in 2019 but has now lost his place on the 26-man active roster and 40-man roster with Detroit welcoming Javier Baez (ankle) back from the 60-day injured list. The 31-year-old catcher has accrued more than five years of service time, so he'll become a free agent if he goes unclaimed off waivers. Rogers has produced a .161/.266/.301 slash line and three home runs in 110 plate appearances this season.
