The Royals activated pitcher Bruce Chen (back) from the disabled list and optioned Tim Collins to Triple-A Omaha. Chen hasn't pitched since April 24 and is expected to move into the bullpen.

Collins is 0-3 with a 4.15 ERA over 17 1/3 innings.
