Rockies' Tanner Gordon: Pulled in first inning, takes loss
Gordon (0-4) took the loss Wednesday against the Diamondbacks, allowing four runs (three earned) on three hits and two walks in two-thirds of an inning. He did not record a strikeout.
Gordon failed to make it through a disastrous first inning that included two errors by the Colorado defense. Gordon walked in a run before being relieved by Peter Lambert, who induced a groundout to limit the damage to four runs. The 26-year-old Gordon uncharacteristically struggled with control Wednesday, throwing only 24 of his 44 pitches for strikes, after he'd turned in a 23:3 K:BB in five previous starts this season. The right-hander will look to improve upon his 7.00 ERA and 1.48 WHIP in his next start, currently scheduled for next week against the Nationals.
