The Reds outrighted Friedl to Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday, Mike Petraglia of CLNSCincy.com reports.
Declining the assignment would have meant forfeiting what remains of Friedl's $3.8 million salary for this season. The 31-year-old is likely to be non-tendered this offseason and become a free agent. Friedl has slashed just .172/.255/.255 with four homers in 272 plate appearances this season.
