Adleman (4-4) gave up three runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out seven over five innings in a loss to the Rays on Wednesday.
Walks were his Achilles' heel in this one -- they drove up his pitch count, and two of the four runners Adleman put on via the free pass came around to score. He's been on a fairly strong run since a May 20 blowup against Colorado, posting a 2.68 ERA over his last six starts, so he's probably secure in his role even with Homer Bailey (elbow) and Brandon Finnegan (shoulder) nearing returns. That said, the walks, a middling strikeout rate and a hitter's home park put Adleman merely on the periphery of standard mixed-league relevance.
