Reds' Reiver Sanmartin: Struggles with control

Sanmartin gave up five runs on four hits and five walks over 2.1 innings in Friday's loss to Atlanta. He struggled in the relatively cold weather to find a grip on the ball, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. "It was the cold right there," Sanmartin said. "I couldn't really feel the ball. I have to keep working at it and move on."

Unlike many of the Reds' other young starters, Sanmartin doesn't throw especially hard and relies on typically good control to get by. When that's taken away, he's especially vulnerable, as was the case Friday night. He'll need to be a lot sharper in his next scheduled outing, a road start Thursday against the Dodgers.
