Interim manager Chad Tracy said after Thursday's win over the Rangers that Contreras has a bruised right hand and is day-to-day, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.
X-rays were negative on Contreras' hand after he was hit by a pitch in the eighth inning. He appears to have dodged a bullet after getting plunked in the hand by a 92.3 mph sinker from Jakob Junis. It's unclear if Contreras will be available for Friday's series opener against Tampa Bay.
