Mayer started at shortstop and went 0-for-4 in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Yankees.
Mayer had opened the previous two games on the bench while dealing with a foot injury, but he was needed Wednesday to replace an injured teammate. He's expected to resume a role as the primary shortstop while Trevor Story (abdomen) works his way back.
