The Red Sox released La Sorsa on Thursday.
The Red Sox acquired La Sorsa from the Pirates at the beginning of June. He made one MLB appearance for the Red Sox, but gave up a home run in just 0.1 innings of work. In six appearances at Triple-A Worcester, he allowed no runs on five hits and a walk in 6.1 innings. However, the southpaw's last pitching appearance was June 28 and was later placed on the 7-day injured list July 21 due to a concussion.
