Martinez will sit Thursday against Toronto, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

Martinez started the first three games of this week after returning from a four-game absence due to a groin injury. He went 4-for-13 with three doubles over that stretch but will get another chance to rest Thursday, as Travis Shaw enters the lineup as the designated hitter.
