Allard will start Thursday's game at Seattle.
The 23-year-old will make a spot start in Thursday's series opener with Kyle Gibson (groin) on the injured list. Allard has regularly thrown 40-50 pitches as a reliever this season, so he should be able to cover around four innings, depending on his efficiency. He may only make the one start, as Gibson is not expected to face a lengthy absence.
