Dunning did not factor in the decision against Toronto on Saturday, pitching five innings and allowing three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four.
The right-hander struggled through a tough first inning, giving up three straight singles to open the frame and allowing two runs. Dunning recovered after that, however, allowing just one run -- on a fifth-inning Bo Bichette solo homer -- the rest of the way. Dunning is tentatively scheduled to make his second start next week at home against the Angels.
