Luzardo (shoulder) played catch Wednesday for the fourth day in a row and is expected to throw off a mound as soon as Thursday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
Luzardo was placed on the 15-day injured list just last week with inflammation in his pitching shoulder, but his shoulder responded well to rest and the left-hander is nearly ready to test things out from the bump. If Luzardo is ready to pitch during the wild-card round, it could be in a relief role.
