Perez (3-5) picked up the win Wednesday against the Pirates, allowing one earned run on five hits and one walk while striking out eight in 5.1 innings.

Aside from a solo home run given up to Joey Bart in the sixth inning, Perez was outstanding Wednesday, racking up a season-high eight strikeouts en route to his third win of the season. Perez has excelled since being acquired by San Diego at the trade deadline, compiling a 1.96 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 21:3 K:BB in 18.1 innings (three starts). However, the 33-year-old has surrendered four long balls during that stretch and his 1.5 HR/9 (17th percentile) remains a concern moving forward.
