Patino could be placed on the Padres' taxi squad for a potential 2020 campaign, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.
Patino had been expected to begin the season at the Double-A level, but with the minor-league season in doubt, the Padres may instead elect to give the 20-year-old a spot on their taxi squad in order to aid his development. Patino has been almost exclusively a starter throughout his time in the minors, but he could come out of the bullpen -- at least initially -- if he is promoted to the active roster at some point during the campaign.
