Marquez will lose his spot on the roster with the Padres needing to clear a spot for left-hander Robbie Ray, who was acquired in a trade with the Giants on Monday. The 31-year-old right-hander's time in San Diego ended on a down note, as he gave up four earned runs in an inning of relief in Tuesday's 9-4 win over the Diamondbacks. Marquez made 13 appearances (10 starts) during his time with San Diego, pitching to a 5.26 ERA and 1.49 WHIP across 53 innings.
