The Padres designated Rosario for assignment Thursday.
Rosario fell short in his bid for the Opening Day roster and didn't have minor-league options remaining, so the Padres will remove him from the 40-man roster and potentially risk losing him to waivers. The 25-year-old logged 57 plate appearances for San Diego in 2024, slashing .245/.286/.528 with three home runs.
