Sandlin elected to become a free agent Wednesday.
Sandlin passed through waivers after being booted off the Angels' 40-man roster. Rather than accept an outright assignment, he's opted for free agency. The 29-year-old reliever held an 11.42 ERA and 1.62 WHIP across 8.2 innings during his brief time with the Halos.
