The Nationals placed Waldron on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with chest inflammation, retroactive to Saturday.
Waldron has pitched 5.2 shutout innings since joining the Nationals in late August, but the team will now be without his services until at least Sept. 20 as he manages his chest injury. Zak Kent will come up from Triple-A Rochester to replenish Washington's reliever depth.
