Ruiz is not in the Nationals' starting lineup against the Dodgers on Friday.

Ruiz -- who went 1-for-12 over his last three starts -- will get a breather for Friday's series opener. Riley Adams will serve behind home plate and bat eighth while catching pitches from Nationals southpaw MacKenzie Gore.
