The Mets are no longer listing Montero as their probable starter for Wednesday's game against the Giants, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports.
Montero stepped into the rotation Friday against the Marlins when the Mets needed a fifth starter to replace Noah Syndergaard (lat), who is expected to remain out through the All-Star break. Manager Terry Collins hasn't removed Montero from the rotation, but with the Mets off the schedule Thursday, the team could get by with four starters this week and move the right-hander to the bullpen on a temporary basis. Montero tossed 3.2 innings Friday, surrendering five runs on seven hits and three walks.
