Williams (shoulder) threw a live batting practice Thursday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
The Mets on Friday will determine if Williams is ready for activation. However, the right-hander may not be in his usual role when he returns. It appears that the Mets will script the 31-year-old's appearances when he is back healthy, so it is not a guarantee he will be closing games.
