The Mariners signed Effross to a minor-league contract Wednesday.

Effross had been pitching at Triple-A Toledo in the Tigers organization, where he held a 4.46 ERA and 26:9 K:BB over 36.1 innings. The sidearmer will give the Mariners some experienced relief depth at Triple-A Tacoma.
