Kirby (1-1) took the loss Wednesday against the Yankees, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks in six innings. He struck out six.
The right-hander gave up just one run through five frames, but Paul Goldschmidt's three-run homer in sixth inning left a big mark on Kirby's ledger. Kirby has now gone at least six innings in each of his first two starts of the year, but he's now been taken deep twice already. Kirby will be trying to keep the ball in the yard the next time he takes the mound, which is set come in Texas versus the division-rival Rangers next week.
