Canzone (adductor) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday, going 1-for-3 while playing five innings in left field.
The Mariners had previously indicated that Canzone was expected to return from the injured list in mid-August, but he now seems to have a shot to be activated a little quicker than that. He's been out since early July with a right adductor strain.
