Mariners' Colt Emerson: Launches first homer

Emerson went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Monday's 6-1 win over the White Sox.

Emerson left the yard for his first MLB hit, with the top prospect launching a three-run shot in the eighth inning to extend the Mariners' lead. Through two games since being called up from Triple-A Tacoma, the 20-year-old has gone 1-for-6 (.167 average) with a walk. With Brendan Donovan (groin) landing on the injured list, Mariners general manager Justin Hollander said that Emerson will step in as Seattle's everyday third baseman for the foreseeable future, per Daniel Kramer of MLB.com.
