Koenig cleared waivers and elected to become a free agent Monday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Koenig spent most of the 2026 season at Triple-A Nashville, where he held a 2.21 ERA and 17:9 K:BB over 20.1 innings. The 32-year-old southpaw logged a 2.67 ERA for the Brewers from 2024-to-2025 but has struggled to gain a foothold at the big-league level since then.
