Gimenez was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.
The 22-year-old began the season as the primary shortstop for Cleveland, but he started only one of the past five games and will make his way to Triple-A. Gimenez has posted a .179/.226/.308 slash line and 29.4 percent strikeout rate through 85 plate appearances this season.
