Angels starter Hector Santiago's numbers aren't eye-popping, but they look a bit more impressive after the 26-year-old revealed he has been pitching through back pain since his first start.

"I just kept aggravating it and throwing, and doing all the workouts and stuff," Santiago said. "It went on for longer than I wanted it to."

Santiago has been dealing with a back injury since the end of the spring, and Sunday's start against the Tigers was the first time he has taken the mound without a setback or flare-up. He is 0-3 with a 3.68 ERA in 22 innings of work.
