Beede tossed a complete-game shutout for Double-A Richmond on Monday. He struck out 11 and walked one.
Beede's fastball was clocked as high as 98 mph Monday. The dominant outing brought the prospect's season ERA down to 2.87 through 23 starts. The 23-year-old has increased his strikeouts (8.47 K/9) and lowered his walks (3.25 BB/9) while keeping his homers allowed in check (0.51 HR/9). A September promotion seems unlikely given that he isn't currently on the 40-man roster. With Phil Bickford being dealt to Milwaukee, Beede should be the Giants' top pitching prospect heading into the 2017 season.
