Melancon recorded his 11th save with a perfect ninth inning against the Braves on Tuesday.
After giving up six runs in his past 1.1 innings, Melancon needed a positive outing and found the Braves compliant. That said, the veteran closer has had his stats skewed by a few ugly outings -- between his two-run season debut and that two-game rough patch he just ended, Melancon put up a 1.15 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 14:1 K:BB over 15.2 innings. With few attractive alternatives available in the Giants' bullpen, he's in no danger of losing his closing job despite his ugly season stat line.
