The Giants reinstated Oliva (wrist) from the 60-day injured list Saturday and designated him for assignment, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Oliva had been on the injured list since mid-April after undergoing surgery to repair a fractured hamate bone in his left wrist. He began playing in rehab games May 30 and has slashed .241/.288/.315 across 60 plate appearances over 14 games. If he clears waivers, he'll presumably fill in as organizational depth at Triple-A Sacramento.
