Law (3-1) was the losing pitcher of record after giving up two runs over 1.2 innings in a 9-7 loss to the Phillies on Sunday.
Law was putting together a solid season -- including a successful run as the team's closer -- but he's run into trouble recently, giving up runs in three of his last four appearances while watching his ERA jump to 3.60. The 26-year-old's velocity and strikeout rates are on par with last year's dominant debut, but his control (3.2 BB/9) and command of the strike zone (1.4 HR/9) have taken hits, resulting in run-of-the-mill results. Law should still be a decent source of holds and a good handcuff for Mark Melancon, but he doesn't appear to be the ratio-boosting middle reliever that he was last season.
