The Giants activated Schmitt (hand) from the 10-day injured list Monday.
Schmitt went on the IL a week ago with left hand inflammation but is ready to go following a two-game rehab stint. He is starting at second base and batting sixth as the Giants open up a series against the Phillies on Monday.
