Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner has been a pleasant surprise since he arrived in Los Angeles last season. But few could have expected him to embark on what has become practically a homer-a-game roll.
Turner blasted off for the fifth time in his last eight starts Saturday. His solo job in the first inning gave him 11 home runs in just 175 at-bats this season. He had 15 taters in 1,129 career at-bats previously.
He added a single in the loss to Miami to improve his slash line to .320/.392/.584. His slugging percentage ranks sixth in the National League.
