Beer went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's spring training game against the Brewers.
Beer started at first base, but he's Arizona's leading candidate to become the primary designated hitter. He appears to be past the shoulder injury that required surgery last September. Thus far in the Cactus League, Beer is 5-for-9 with three RBI and three runs scored over five games.
