The Diamondbacks scratched Carroll from Tuesday's lineup against the Royals due to low back discomfort, per Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic.
This will mark consecutive games where Carroll has been left out of the starting lineup. The 26-year-old is slashing just .148/.200/.296 with one homer and four RBI over his last 58 plate appearances. Ildemaro Vargas will replace Carroll and man first base while Tim Tawa moves over to right field for Arizona on Tuesday.
