The Diamondbacks designated Garcia for assignment Friday.
The 33-year-old has been up with Arizona for the past few weeks but will lose his place on the 40-man roster for the second time this year. Between Garcia's two stints in the majors this season, he's gone 3-for-19 with a homer and six strikeouts in eight games.
