Yankees reliever Dellin Betances earned his first win of the season Saturday against the Angels.
Betances was a victim of circumstance, taking over in the fifth inning, but he also pitched well during the outing. With a man on first, Betances balked to move him to second. He was able to entice two groundouts, and got out of the fifth inning without allowing a run.
He was more effective in the sixth, striking out two batters while pitching around a walk. Betances started the seventh inning with a strikeout, but allowed a hit to the next batter. He was replaced after throwing two scoreless innings.
Betances allowed one hit and one walk in the outing. He struck out three.
