Tromp cleared waivers Tuesday and elected free agency, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
Tromp was pushed off Baltimore's 40-man roster Friday to make room for Jake Rogers, and the former will now enter the open market in search of a new opportunity. Tromp has put up just a .344 OPS in 51 MLB plate appearances this season and is unlikely to land anything more than a minor-league deal.
