Gray did not factor into the decision in Thursday's loss to the Cubs, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk over seven innings while striking out nine.
Gray was efficient during his time on the mound, throwing 19 of his 26 first pitches for strikes while inducing 15 swings and misses. The right-hander allowed one run to come across in the second after allowing three of the first four batters to reach in the frame, and later coughed up a solo homer to Seiya Suzuki in the sixth. It actually marked the first time in Gray's last six starts that he didn't allow at least three runs, as he had surrendered five runs in each of his previous two outings. Gray has also now posted six or more strikeouts in seven consecutive starts.
