Bowman was credited with his seventh hold of the season in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Reds despite surrendering three earned runs on three hits over two-thirds of an inning. He also recorded a strikeout.
After firing 19.2 scoreless innings between Sept. 6 of last season and April 25, Bowman has now surrendered five earned runs over his last 2.2 frames. The 25-year-old right-hander gave up an RBI double to Adam Duvall and a run-scoring single to Eugenio Suarez before getting the hook, and another RBI double yielded by Brett Cecil produced the third run on Bowman's ledger. Despite the recent bumps in the road, the young reliever has a sparkling 0.89 WHIP and 11:2 K:BB over 12.1 innings.
