Cardinals' Dakota Hudson: Throws five rehab innings again

Hudson (elbow) started Triple-A Memphis' win over Louisville on Friday, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out two.

The recovering right-hander was encouragingly able to log five frames for the second straight rehab start, accomplishing the feat against Triple-A bats on this occasion after making his prior appearance for Double-A Springfield. Hudson worked all the way up to 68 pitches, and although he only got 36 into the strike zone, the way his arm has responded to a higher workload is encouraging. Hudson may be deemed ready for activation in the next few days, and given the way he's been stretched out, he should be able to handle a long-relief role.
