Brewers pitcher Jimmy Nelson was one of the few bright spots for Milwaukee in an otherwise dismal spring training day.
Nelson tossed two scoreless innings and only surrendered one hit in a 5-4 loss to the Royals. Nelson's outing came after recovering from a minor hamstring injury.
"I felt pretty good out there," Nelson said, per MLB.com. "I was able to work on some things that were good to work on in game situations. I think I was just a tick up in the strike zone, but that's an easy adjustment."
Though Nelson excelled on the mound Monday, that wasn't the case for Brewers pitchers Neal Cotts and Mike Strong. Cotts gave up three hits and two earned runs in one inning pitched and Strong surrendered three hits and three earned runs in 1 1/3 innings pitched.
