Lauer (elbow) threw approximately 30 pitches during a bullpen session Saturday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Lauer threw off flat ground Wednesday and was cleared for mound work a few days later. The southpaw is eligible to return from the injured list as early as Sept. 23, and manager Craig Counsell said Saturday that he expects Lauer to be back in action prior to the end of the regular season.
