Woodruff did not undergo surgery on his right shoulder and is scheduled to begin a throwing program Wednesday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Woodruff said in July that he would undergo season-ending capsule repair surgery on his right shoulder, but he first wanted to exhaust all his options before going under the knife. Imaging on his shoulder taken four weeks after he suffered his injury revealed unexpected healing, eliminating the need for the 33-year-old to undergo surgery. The Brewers will put him through a five-week throwing program before re-evaluating him, per Hogg, which will keep Woodruff out through the end of the regular season but could enable him to pitch in the postseason if things go well.
