Civale (3-8) earned the win Friday against the Reds, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out five.
The 29-year-old righty picked up his fifth quality start of the season with this 93-pitch effort. He had been cruising up until the seventh inning, when the Reds laced three consecutive hits, starting with a leadoff Spencer Steer homer. Cincinnati ran into an out at the plate on the third hit, a double, and then manager Pat Murphy lifted Civale. After arriving in a trade from Tampa Bay on July 3, he has pitched to a 4.88 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 29:12 K:BB over 31.1 innings. Civale currently lines up to face the Dodgers at home for his next start.
